Loyalist College has partnered with Ontario Security Hub to offer the mandatory training required for individuals who wish to write the Ontario Security Guard Exam and apply for their Ontario Security Guard Licence.

Ontario Security Hub is a Ministry-licensed security training provider serving learners across Ontario. Their online Security Guard Training course follows the curriculum established by Ontario's Private Security and Investigative Services Branch and is designed to help participants develop the knowledge and skills needed to begin a career in the security industry.

About the Training

Ontario law requires individuals seeking a Security Guard Licence to successfully complete this 40-hour Security Guard Training program before they can write the provincial licensing exam. This comprehensive online course covers the following topics:

• Introduction to the Security Industry
• The Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA)
• Basic Security Procedures
• Report Writing
• Health and Safety
• Emergency Response Preparation
• Canadian Legal System
• Legal Authorities
• Effective Communications
• Sensitivity Training
• Use of Force Theory

The training is online and self-paced, allowing participants to complete the course at a time and place that works best for them.

Training Completion Number (TCN)

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive their Training Completion Number (TCN), which is required to register for the Ontario Security Guard Exam and continue the licensing process.

First Aid and CPR Requirement

Please Note: First Aid and CPR certification is not required to participate in this training; however, valid certification is required before you can complete the final Ontario Security Guard Exam and before a Training Completion Number (TCN) can be issued. Individuals who do not already hold certification should arrange to complete this training separately.

Getting Started

Once registration and payment are complete, participants will receive instructions to create their online training account with Security Hub and access the course materials.
